This Scottish tradition has been carried through to the College uniform, which features the McDonald tartan. On their retirement their daughter, Margaret Markham, took over the College. It had lengthy been a desire of Ann McDonald and John Butt to achieve recognition for the performing arts in education. In 1983 their daughter saw the opportunity of establishing a specialized academic and performing arts school for gifted children. Whilst looking for larger facilities the College took casual occupation of local business premises including a room at the infield Swimming Pool complex. It was the eventual sale of these three properties in 199 that allowed the College to buy its offer premises at 17 George Street, North Strathfield. Presented by The McDonald College, this series is the first of its humane and is a accurate April school holiday program for students interested in expanding their skills across Classical Ballet. .

Our unique and challenging curriculum in performance offered as an integrated piece of the school day combined with some of Australia’s maximum extraordinary Performing Arts teachers and practitioners make The McDonald College the perfect choice for your child’s future education. With a holistic approach towards each student's development, a thorough and entire training program is offered through a variety of begin class work, Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) examination syllabus work, various well being and conditioning classes whilst completing formal school education in a nurturing and original environment. The dance students labor on technique, look at different dance styles and choreographers and create their own works in class. The Music Stream at The McDonald College is unique as it offers two hours per day of training in the art of performance within the normal school curriculum. Performance is valued as the culminating musical experience of the educational process engaged within the teaching and learning environment. Musical theater is currently available to students from Years 7 to 12, as we trust it is imperative for students in their younger years to experience all areas of Performing Arts and have time to thrive their skills base in singing, dancing and acting. As with all performing arts classes at the College, staff are drawn from the 'industry' and are either active or have been occupied in professional Musical theater for some time. Providing excellence in performance, the College provides a powerful academic foundation and a professional performing arts training that enables our graduates to pursue tertiary education, a performance career or be well prepared to directly enter the world of corporate opportunities.
